Find out what’s been popular with bathroom shoppers over the past year.

Bathroom and plumbing supplier Reece today released its Bathroom Shopping Trends report, which contains some interesting figures that show what sorts of bathroom fittings and design elements have been particularly hot sellers over the last year or so. Below is a quick summary, which perhaps gives a good insight into what’s hot in bathroom design:
Freestanding baths – Stand-alone freestanding baths are a strong design feature, and are extremely popular at the moment. According to the report, the popularity of these kinds of bathtubs has tripled over the past three years.
Heated towel rails – According to Reece, the demand for heated towel rails has doubled in growth across the last three years – and they’re in particularly high demand over winter.
Customisable cabinetry / bathroom furniture – Another area that’s grown recently is customisable cabinetry and furniture. “Many vanity units incorporate hidden compartments and additional storage options, which are particularly popular with customers”, explains Belinda Geels, Recce Bathroom Marketing Manager.
Double headed rail showers – According to Reece, twin rail showers that incorporate two separate heads and allow you to adjust the height of the hand shower are surging in popularity.
Back to wall toilet suites – If you’re not familiar with these, they’re toilet suites that extend the porcelain all the way back to fit flush against the wall behind the toilet. Very tasteful and apparently they’ve been steadily increasing in popularity over the last 18 months.
Mini-makeovers – Lastly, for better or worse it seems that people are now more frequently opting for a ‘mini-makeover’ in the bathroom – replacing smaller fittings and accessories to refresh the overall feel.
