Winter is officially around the corner. As that familiar, biting chill permeates the air the urge to hunker down and nest is as unavoidable as binging the latest Netflix water cooler show. Fortunately for us, this upcoming season is forecasting décor trends we’re thrilled to stay home for.
To help us navigate the ever-evolving buffet of trends Luxo Living founder Winston Tu is digging into Aussie shopper data to reveal the winter styles that are here to stay.
Cosy Coastal Cottage
Aussies love to decorate their homes with a coastal flair, but how can we update our beloved beachy aesthetic for winter? Winston’s answer is ‘coastal cottage’. And no cottage look is complete without a statement fireplace.
First, Winston suggests rearranging your furniture to give your living room a fresh ambiance and then adding an electric fireplace, like the Wyoming Free Standing Electric Fireplace, as the room’s focal point.
It doubles as a warm gathering area for winter entertaining and creates a stylish cottage sanctuary effect with the faux flame. No wood chopping required. Add in a rug like Vastra Modern Art Rug to maximize your cottage vibe.
Barbie-core
We’ve already witnessed the Barbie-core trend take over the fashion world this past year, and now we’re seeing it creep into homewares.
However, if you don’t want to commit to a hot pink couch that you’ll be sick of by September, Winston suggests adopting the trend in a more subtle way, like by adding a dusty pink or blush statement piece like the Ange Velvet Dining Chairs or the Kelly Bed Frame.
Usher in the outdoors
Even though we’re starting to spend more time indoors that doesn’t mean we can’t get a taste of nature from the comfort of our own home. Winston says wooden furniture and elements of greenery are a great way to breathe life into drab Winter interiors.
Rustic timber furniture like the American Oak Entertainment Unit adds depth to your space by creating a visual illusion of nature in your home. Top it off with the emerald Laila Mother of Pearl Inlay Vase for your freshly cut winter blooms.
Sometimes changing the fabric of a room is all that is necessary to alter the seasonal mood. Whilst textiles like velvet and boucle may be too heavy for spring and summer, Winston insists that they offer great insulation for winter.
The velvet Odia Trundle Bed or the DIY Decorator Boucle Ottoman can be a great way to upgrade your space. The bonus is they are also durable and can withstand everyday wear and tear, making them as much a practical investment as a stylish one.
