What are subfloor access doors?
A subfloor access door is a small door or hatchway that allows you to get in under the floor. These are only really necessary if your house is on stumps or is raised in some other manner, with a sealed-off space underneath the house. The subfloor access door is often located outside the building on a rear or side wall. This lets workmen like plumbers and electricians get beneath your floor to perform any maintenance or installations you might need.

The access door works like any other small hinged door. It is usually fastened with some sort of dead bolt and padlocked to keep it secure when not in use. The door also typically has a metal grille to allow air flow from underneath.
