The banning of engineered stone created shockwaves across the Australian building and renovation sectors. It caused concern, uncertainty and a plethora of questions; what could replace it? Would it be as beautiful? As durable? As affordable? Would it be as sustainable?
The answer has been a resounding win for the consumer, the designer, the fabricator and the planet.
Caesarstone led the field with its launch of a crystalline silica-free blend, Caesarstone ICON Advanced Mineral Surfaces, in January 2025. Since then, the brand has added 33 designs to the range. In June 2025, a tranche of fresh, inspirational designs will be introduced.
The newest additions, Celestial Skyä, Rossa Novaä and Calacatta Stillstormä, take their design cues from classic Calacatta marble, prized for its dramatic veining and refined colouring. These new surfaces reflect a growing demand for warm, earthy tones and light-reflective finishes that align with the current interior design trends.
Celestial Skyä features a creamy white backdrop graced with a veined overlay of warm greys and earthy browns that flow naturally across the surface. Rossa Novaä maintains a warm white base and is overlayed with a complex tracery of veining in earthy hues of amber, taupe and deep golden ochre. Calacatta Stillstormä is comprised of a radiant white base featuring directional veining in soft greys and refined pewter hues.
The Caesarstone ICON Advanced Mineral Surfaces collection uses natural materials and as much recycled content as possible. This includes at least 80% in each slab. It is the only mineral surface to offer a lifetime warranty.
