As Australia moves from summer’s bright tones into cooler months, the Dulux Australia Colour Forecast predicts a shift toward muted, expressive interiors that celebrate individuality, nostalgia and emotional warmth.
Dulux Colour design manager Lauren Treloar says the Evoke palette combines blush pinks, burnt oranges, warm golds and dramatic tones to create depth, comfort and cocooning spaces: “The palette is perfectly suited to autumn, reflecting the season’s comfort, reflection and retreat.”
Evoke encourages maximalism and ‘nana chic’ styling, blending mid-tone shades like Dulux Baked Clay and Dulux Germania with deeper accents such as Dulux Misty Grape, Dulux Wink and Dulux Red Jacks to create layered, character-filled spaces.
“Lighter tones such as Dulux Baked Clay, Dulux Magic Melon, and Dulux Germania pair beautifully with the deeper, colourful tones of Dulux Misty Grape, Dulux Wink and Dulux Red Jacks to create a character-filled space that truly reflects its resident,” Lauren says.
Stylist Bree Banfield collaborated with the Dulux team to bring the palette to life in a Melbourne Bayside home. The dining room features Dulux Germania in a golden alcove, softened by Dulux White Beach on surrounding walls, while vintage, handcrafted and sustainable décor adds texture and depth.
“Choose one or two mid-tone colours as a foundation, then layer in deeper hues and tactile materials like velvet, glass and timber. Don’t be afraid of something unexpected as the palette is about individuality, not perfection,” Bree says.
Bedrooms use richer tones to create intimate, grounding spaces. Dulux Chocolate Treat sets a cosy foundation in one room, while Dulux Baked Clay paired with Dulux Snowy Mountains Half defines another, complemented by velvet, timber and curated décor.
For home owners, Dulux recommends starting with a soft, warm base and layering deeper accents, textures and vintage-inspired décor to enhance the nostalgic, cocooning effect. Sampling colours in natural light ensures the palette works throughout the day.
