Calm moody colours to dominate during autumn/winter

Dulux Colour forecasters predict that consumers will gravitate towards serene and muted colours that induce a calming presence and quiet luxury, leading into the cooler months.

Dulux communications manager Andrew Lucena-Orr says that certain colours will help to capture the cosy feeling.

“Warm neutrals, earthy yellows, soft greens and cool blues such as those featured within the Dulux Still palette, one of the three palettes from Dulux Colour Forecast for 2025, encapsulates this feeling Australians may find themselves yearning for this autumn and winter,” she says.

“It’s a palette that feels comforting, harmonious and reflects the seasonal shift towards a slower, more reflective pace of life as people retreat indoors.”

Dulux Colour manager Lauren Treloar claims that the neural palette will be preferable for those wanting to introduce more colour into their home.

“It’s fast-becoming popular with customers and works well with Dulux Antique White USA to add a sense of inviting warmth,” she says.

“Each of the colours within the palette have a greyed-off, soft and muted undertone giving them a timeless, grounded quality.”

Dulux collaborated with stylist Bree Banfield to work on a living room and bedroom, to provide people with inspiration on how Dulux Still palette can be used in their own homes during the cooler seasons.

To re-introduce warmth and cosiness, the team took inspiration from nature and used the Dulux Still palette to advance the project.

“The living room features a healthy amount of enticing texture and colour, such as a boucle armchair, the woven throws and cushions and woollen carpet offering a plush feeling underfoot,” says Bree.

“As natural materials are key to this trend, we referenced eco-friendly finishes like timber in lighting and furniture pieces. Organic shapes and detailing can be seen in the rounded marble coffee table and other hand-made decorative vessels.”

The team decided to use bolder colours in the bedroom, settling on Dulux Enterprise, a dark blue with grey undertones.

“Incorporating the cool blue within the space has helped bring a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere without dominating the space,” says Lauren.
