Thank you for the article on Certificate of Electrical Safety. I have recently had the full switchboard at my house upgraded (1950's version). I have asked several times for a Certificate of Electrical Safety yet this is not forthcoming. Any suggestions as to what I can do to expedite this. I am at a loss as to what to do next as the electrical company says that they will send it in the mail but I get the impression I am being "stonewalled" into not pursuing something that I believe is a requirement.
Appreciate any suggestions.

It's a legal requirement for them to issue you with this certificate.
If you feel you're being messed around, your best bet is to get in touch with the department of consumer affairs / fair trading in your state or territory (Consumer Affairs in Victoria, Fair Trading in NSW, Office of Fair Trading in Queensland etc.) - they'll be able to help you with this.
