Fanco, a boutique ceiling fan brand, has launched the Gaia Ceiling Fan, which won an Australian Good Design Award in the Product Hardware and Building category.
This accolade showcases the Gaia Fan as leading the way in design and innovation of ceiling fan manufacturing, highlighting its superior performance, style and commitment to sustainability on the world stage.
As part of Universal Fans, a family-owned business operated from Melbourne, Fanco has been offering the Australian market ceiling fan and ventilation products for over 15 years. Led by the second generation, Fanco’s mission is to design high-performing fans and ensure a positive impact on the environment and the community.
Over the years, Fanco has embraced the evolution of the ceiling fan industry by incorporating innovative technologies and increasingly sustainable practices, such as using responsibly sourced materials, ensuring user-replaceable components and providing recyclable packaging.
The Gaia Ceiling Fan represents a significant milestone in the industry, with Fanco being the first company in Australia to hold FSC certification for the timber used in ceiling fan blades. Made from Populus timber, the blades are responsibly sourced from forests that promote biodiversity and benefit local communities. Each blade is uniquely crafted, ensuring no two are alike.
The motor housing is made from bio-based plastic containing 25% renewable carbon, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and lowering the overall environmental impact of production.
“Our mission has always been to push the boundaries of what’s possible in ceiling fan design, and with the Gaia Fan, we’re leading the industry toward a more sustainable future,” Fanco general manager Julia Kahan says.
“We’ve integrated environmentally conscious materials in addition to an energy-efficient motor without compromising the performance, style, or durability our customers have come to expect. Being recognised with a Good Design Award for the Gaia Fan is an incredible honour and validates our efforts to create innovative, sustainable products that make a positive impact.”
The Gaia Fan is available in two sizes, 48” and 54”, making it versatile enough to suit various room sizes and design preferences. The 48” model operates at just 1W on its lowest setting, while the 54” model runs at 2W, ensuring both sizes offer exceptional energy efficiency and powerful airflow.
