Gas meter Victoria

We are converting an old factory to be our home and the gas meter is on the inside of the building high on a wall. Not too far from where the oven will go. Do we need to move this outside or can we contain it in a cupboard?

Hi Sue,

We had a quick chat with Energy Safe Victoria for you, and they say while it's not ideal to have the gas meter inside, the decision will probably depend on where you live and what your gas provider says.

It used to be the case that they'd put some gas meters inside if it was a low-pressure supply, but outside is the preferred option in most cases. Shouldn't cost too much to move it anyway if that's what's needed.

Just give your gas supplier a ring, they should be able to help with this.

Hope this helps,
The BUILD team.
