Westlife Church in Goodna, Queensland has launched Operation Gyprock to raise funds for gyprock sheets for the victims of the recent floods.

Westlife Church in Goodna, Queensland, has launched a charity project codenamed Operation Gyprock, which aims to obtain some 50,000 square metres of gyprock to help displaced residents affected by the devastating January floods return home.
Over 500 houses were damaged in the town by the floodwaters, and upwards of 95 percent of the victims are still unable to return to their affected homes, instead living out of temporary accomodation such as caravans, nursing homes, as well as family and friends.
In a statement published on its website, the church proclaimed that “the lack of gyprock sheets is the greatest need displaced Goodna residents are currently facing.”
“If we can acquire gyprock sheets, many will be back in their homes sooner rather than later.”
Gyprock sheets are used as internal lining boards within the home, and it will require roughly 150 square metres to finish the internal walls of a single dwelling.
The appeal is still ongoing, with Westlife Church turning towards the construction community in particular to assist with providing gyprock sheets or vouchers from Bunnings or Mitre 10 for the sheets.
