A canoe club in Cairns is losing parts of its roof as a group of large pythons get busy in the boatshed.

Up to six pythons, including one 7m long female, were found in the boatshed of the Hekili Outrigger Canoe Club.

Various sections of the roof have been breaking away as the pythons go about their passionate business.

A 3.5m and a 4.5m python have been captured and will be released into the
wild, but the four other snakes have slithered to unreachable areas of the roof.

It’s the second time in two years that pythons have chosen the boathouse roof as their romantic getaway.
