A $200 million hybrid solar and diesel power station could supply most Geraldton homes with electricity by 2014, if its proposal is approved.
The Western Australian plant is expected to have the capacity to generate 100,000 megawatt hours of electricity each year, the equivalent of powering 18,000 homes.
The station would be one of Australia’s biggest solar plants not included in the Federal Government’s $1.5 billion Solar Flagships program.
A planning application has been lodged by investment bank Investec.
