A builder installed an engineered underground detention tank within the rear yard. it was not installed at the correct elevation leaving only 3" of soil and sod. To prevent the sod from browning and dying every year is there something to install, some sort of insulation that can be placed on top of the concrete to dissipate the heat?
I have a stilt fibro house which has a concrete slab underneath. I believe the house was build in the 50s/60s. I want to make the house bigger and would like to close in the underneath section. I am unsure if the slab is to code or has a water proof barrier, also i am wondering how to attach a timber stud wall to the slab, (what protection is required if any, or can the timber sit directly on the slab) as i am thinking about giving owner building a go
If anyone can help me with any information that would be great.
when you pour a concrete bench top onsite over existing cupboards do you suggest a "moisture barrier" (black plastic) be placed under the concrete to protect the cupboards

Are waffle slabs any good or are they a disaster waiting to happen? Should I invest more money in my build to get a stiffened raft slab?
