A window on the world of bushfire safety

26 September 2019

Windows can play a part in fire protection.

While they might seem inconsequential should disaster strike, windows can actually play a crucial role in protecting against interior flam ignition.

Certified windows act as a barrier, keeping flames out and thus reducing the risk of significant property loss. Modern materials have improved the form and function of safe windows and Stegbar’s Cedar collection is Australia’s first certified BAL40 cedar system.

Unlike many other products that are deemed to satisfy requirements, Stegbar’s BAL40 windows and doors are independently tested by CSIRO to ensure compliance with standards.

Stegbar has released Australia's first BAL40 cedar range.

The range includes casement, awning, sliding and fixed windows, as well as bi-fold, sliding, stacking and hinged patio doors. Each creates security without the need for bulky shutters and all are built to withstand harsh environments. Stegbar’s BAL40 tested Aluminium and Merbau collections offer the same benefits while blending handsomely with the home.

Stegbar director of marketing Christine Evans says: “We combined innovation and longstanding expertise to provide options that had never before existed.”
